The Step 2 Extreme Coaster – Is It Worth The Investment?

The Step 2 Extreme Coaster, which is the next level up from the Step 2 Up and Down Roller Coaster, is a weather proof, sturdy, well built toy made from double wall construction and has been built with safety as a priority. It is gravity powered therefore there are no mechanical components to be concerned with nor are batteries needed.

The way the Extreme Coaster works is by the child pushing the cart to the top on the tracks and then riding down the tracks in the cart. A great benefit in that it helps the child to vent that abundance of energy which most children have while having a fantastic time with the coaster over and over again.

The car has safety grips enabling your child to hang on for the ride. The track holds wheels of the car securely so there is no chance of the wheels coming off on the way down. Of course adult supervision is recommended while children are using the coaster to ensure it is used correctly. It is necessary to ensure the pathway the cart travels on after coming to the end of the track is clear of people and debris. Note that it will depend on the surface the step 2 extreme coaster has been set up on as to how far it will travel once the car reaches the end of the track. Again, depending on the surface and age of the child, it might also be a good idea for the child to wear a bike helmet. Safety should always be the primary concern when dealing with our precious children.

You will need a little space to enjoy the toy to its fullest as it is quite large measuring about 3-1/2 feet high, 2-1/2 feet wide and 11 feet in length. The Step 2 Extreme Coaster has total of 8 feet of track so your little one should have lots of fun with this ride. Some parents have set the toy up in their garage, yard or even a spare room inside. It can be used in winter, spring, summer or fall and will stand up to all weather extremes.

Children aged from 3 years old up to 10 years old can ride the extreme coaster depending on their weight as the maximum recommended weight by Step 2 is 75 lbs or 34.1kg. Some reviewers have stated people up to 200 lbs have been known to use it, but I certainly wouldn’t recommend that. It is however, sure to be a big hit with the neighborhood friends.

With child obesity on the rise the Step 2 Extreme Coaster is an ideal toy to introduce into any home giving children plenty of opportunity for exercise, fresh air and also encouraging them to be active while having lots of fun and enjoyment. Children love watching their siblings and friends ride the coaster, so it is a group toy which is entertaining for all involved.

Mountain Bike – Is It an Extreme Sport?

First let’s get something straight: What’s extreme to you might not be extreme to the next person. And what’s extreme to that person might be tame to you. You see, “extreme” is relative. It means something different for everybody.

One thing everyone can agree on, however, is that when it comes to extreme sports, mountain biking-riding through the mountains on trails and dirt roads-is definitely one of them. Mountain biking allows riders to challenge themselves on difficult, steep terrain. It takes a vehicle that has been popular for nearly a century-the bike-and turns it into a tool for extreme adventure. Mountain bike racing draws experienced riders who think that just riding off-road isn’t extreme enough.

Even mountain biking itself has changed over time. Years ago if you owned a mountain bike, you were extreme. If you talked about mountain biking, you were living on the edge. You were extreme just because you were different.

Today it’s not that simple. Millions of people ride mountain bikes. To be an extreme mountain biker in 2007, you not only have to have a bike, but you have to know how to rip. You have to know not only how to ride but how to ride fast. Really fast. You have to tear down the steepest slopes, and up the hardest hills. You have to shred the gnarliest single-track and the muddiest forest roads. You have to be able to ride anything out there and do it in style. That’s extreme.

Today there are the X Games, a miniature Olympics for extreme sports. Athletes from around the world gather for this event to show just how extreme they can be. They climb ice cliffs, carve half-pipe walls on their snowboards, and jump out of airplanes with skateboards strapped to their feet. They compete to see who can grab the biggest air, who can hit the highest speeds, and who can perform the most difficult stunts. The winners are given gold medals and the title of “Most Extreme Athlete Planet.” Most extreme, that is, until the next X Games, when new athletes redefine what it means to be extreme.

Another version of extreme sports takes place behind the scenes, away from the glory that comes with television coverage and cheering crowds. These athletes prefer to play in the woods, alone with nature and the elements. They’re the mountain climbers, the backcountry trail riders, the explorers. They’ll never get a gold medal for what they do, and they probably wouldn’t want one anyway. They’re doing what they do because they love it, not because it attracts a crowd.

Most people agree that for a sport to be extreme, it has to be difficult-at least for the beginner. It must require specialized skills and techniques.

Top 3 Extreme Sports Adventures

Extreme sports and thrill seeking adventures is one of the most exciting and action packed things that you could do.

But what is an extreme sport exactly? Well to me it is any sort of activity that will get your heart pumping and that hit of adrenalin coursing through your veins.

Perhaps an activity that reaches incredible heights, the feeling of free falling, getting up close to deadly predators. Whatever is extreme for you may or may not be so extreme for others though so the choice is of course personal.

For instance I love going shark diving but am terrified of free falling, both are still extreme sports adventures but they are so very different.

In general for the majority of thrill seekers however are the top 3 most common and most popular extreme sports adventures.

First on the list is bungee jumping. There is nothing that will get your heart racing faster than strapping your legs to a rope and throwing yourself off a bridge or platform.

There are also so many different forms of bungee jumps too. For instance jumping off a bridge is the normal kind of bungee but for those looking for new thrills may decide to jump from a helicopter.

Or perhaps even bungee jump, riding a BMX off the edge, AJ Hackett’s bungee jump in Cairns, Australia offer just that.

Free falling from a bungee feels so much faster than jumping out of a plane and this is because you’re moving past objects at full speeds giving your mind a measurement of speed where as sky diving feels like a while before you get anywhere near any other objects.

Second for the most extreme sports however is the adventure of sky diving. It may not feel as fast but jumping out of a perfectly good aeroplane at 14,000 feet is still just as extreme as a bungee jump.

Your first jump and likely the few following will be tandem with an instructor so that you can just hang there and enjoy the free fall and parachuting experience. After a few jumps you may want to try this solo or you may even want to try an accelerated free fall course to find the most extreme way to enjoy the sky dive.

Out of the skies for number three’s spot for the top extreme sports adventures is white water rafting.

Rowing against and with the rapids on a white water rafting day is intense but so much fun too. Putting your bodies on the line to experience the fury and wild ride that Mother Nature provides is definitely an extreme adventure.

Now days there are even many man made rapids where the tour operators can control the category of the rapids which are ranked one to five.

All three of these extreme sports adventures will get your heart pumping and your blood full of adrenalin but of course there are many other activities that may do this very same thing for you.

If bungee jumping, sky diving or white water rafting isn’t your thing there are always other extreme sports such as hang gliding, shark diving, caving and all sorts of different things that you could try to start living life to its fullest potential.
